About the Role

We have a world class test facility which is maintained to the highest standards and subject to constant development and improvements.  We are looking for a highly motivated Test Facility Technician to support our Testing Facility team.  This is an entirely hands on role where you will be responsible for the maintenance and development of our Propulsion Test Facility.
You’ll also be supporting the testing team which is responsible for completing all of the development, qualifications and acceptance testing for the Rutherford rocket engine.  The engine uses liquid oxygen and hydrocarbon propellants that are fed to the combustion chamber with electric turbo pumps.  Rocket Lab averages one hot fire (engine test) per day at the test site, so if you like powerful advanced engineering then this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out regular preventative maintenance checks throughout the facility
  • Liaise with Maintenance Planner and Production Leads to ensure systems are kept operational with minimal down time
  • Fabrication and installation of new projects and system upgrades
  • Facilitating and contributing towards safety, 5S and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Assisting with fabrication, installation and commissioning of a new state of the art testing facility
  • Assisting the vehicle/engine testing operation teams when required
Preferred skills & Expertise
  • A qualified Fitter Welder with ASME IX certification (current or expired)
  • Trade qualification NCME Level 4 or higher
  • Mechanical assembly and maintenance experience
  • Experience with automated control systems
  • High attention to detail and quality workmanship is a must
  • Able to follow mechanical drawings and instructions
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach to daily tasks
  • Able to work independently or in a team and prioritizes tasks effectively
  • Can-do attitude, enthusiastic, proactive and open to learning
