About the role
LC1, or Launch Complex 1, is the facility in Mahia where we launch vehicles from sea level to orbit. Everything else we do as a company leads to this pivotal moment so LC1 needs to operate as safely and precisely as our rockets do. Multiple teams work long hours in all weather conditions, in various areas such as; Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance & Repair, Logistic Operations, Administration, and Co-Ordination with other Rocket Lab Production & Testing facilities.
This is a People Leader position, directly managing up to 16 people. Reporting to the LC1 Site Director you'll be responsible for the safety, training and development of all Mechanical and Electrical staff on the site. And as an Operations Manager you will also own the planning, scheduling and task management for those same teams working long hours in all weather conditions. Our ideal candidate will have managed multiple teams of similar disciplines before, preferably in remote locations with similar environmental challenges.

Required Experience
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent training in an Engineering Discipline
  • At least 5 years experience in People Leadership & Development
  • Expertise in Task Co-Ordination across multifunctional teams
  • Knowledge of and a passion for Performance Reviews
  • Demonstrable experience with Continuous Improvement projects
Desired Experience
  • Process Improvement Method experience; LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Experience managing people and processes in Remote / Isolated environments
