About the role
Build and sustain a supply chain in which every purchased production item has a stable supply, from a reliable supplier, with exceptional quality, and under agreed commercial terms.

Guide engineering teams on proper sourcing strategy, support suppliers with new product introduction, and collaborate with quality teams to establish efficient and effective validation strategies for purchased flight hardware.
Ensure suppliers are developed to grow with Rocket Lab and relationships are set up to foster collaboration and proactively identify/mitigate risks.

Essential skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or engineering preferred; or a mix of education and 7+ years of experience
  • 5+ years negotiating and executing purchase orders for materials and services preferably in the aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong understanding of engineering stakeholder requirements and expectations
  • Possess strong knowledge of procuring technical materials such as machined and/or electrical components
  • Experience in a systemized purchasing environment and be familiar with Material Requirement Planning (MRP), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
5+ years of:
    • sourcing of materials, supplies and services in an engineering environment
    • implementing guidelines or standards from which vendors should be selected
    • conducting negotiations with suppliers to obtain products and services at the best quality and cost
    • coordinating with accounts payable to resolve any issues
    • soliciting suppliers/vendors for materials, products and services through formal Requests for Quote (RFQ) and or Request for Proposals (RFPs) and informal channels
