About the role
The Senior RF Engineer works independently under the guidance of the RF Manager and has two primary roles.

1) To ensure that RL operates in accordance with frequency regulations by arranging/maintaining frequency licences for Rocket Lab’s RF systems, including launch vehicle, ground stations and satellites, and leads coordination activities as needed.

2) To ensure the mission operational readiness of Electron telemetry and command systems and associated ground stations. The Senior RF Engineer works with other RL teams to determine telemetry and command mission requirements, develops mission plans and ICDs, and verifies the operational readiness of systems via test. The Senior RF Engineer also works with 3rd party ground station operators to arrange mission ground stations and to verify their operational readiness.
  
Essential skills
  • Bachelors or higher in Engineering majoring in radio communications systems or an equivalent qualification
  • 3+ years' experience working in a regulatory environment on the licencing and coordination of RF systems
  • 3+ years' experience working with RF communications systems
  • Significant experience conducting RF analysis, including link budget analysis
  • Systematic approach to tasks and a high level of attention to detail
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Proven communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships
