About the role
The scope of Mechanical Development & Test team work covers all structural components on the vehicle including tanks, and all other pressure vessels, plus all mechanical parts and fluid systems. Propulsion systems and Avionic components and systems are covered by other teams, although coordination across teams is required, and occasionally supported with component level testing. 

Mechanical Development & Test  activity is required for different reasons; research testing to support investigations arising from a test or flight anomaly, development and qualification testing to support ongoing design and development, and acceptance testing to validate that flight hardware and systems have been manufactured and assembled correctly and therefore function within acceptable performance parameters.

Essential skills
  • Aerospace, mechanical or mechatronic engineering degree or equivalent qualification
  • 6+ years developing and testing mechanical systems, with a focus on pneumatic systems.
  • Strong understanding of thermofluids and the ability to effectively convey your understanding to juniors
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment
  • Sound analytical skills and capable of seeing the big picture and making connections and appropriate decisions
  • Heavy emphasis on achievement and details – getting things done efficiently, effectively and to the highest quality standards.
  • The ability to take a flexible approach and to adapt to change quickly
  • Have tenacity, a can-do attitude and the ability to think quickly and make accurate judgements.
