About The Role

About Rocket Lab:
At Rocket Lab, we believe the future will be defined and enabled by access to space. As a world leader in launch and space systems, we’re making that future a reality and enabling the ideas of tomorrow to reach orbit today. We’re unlocking the potential of space and ushering in a new era of opportunity and exploration for the benefit of humankind.
About the Role:
This is a rare opportunity to drive the graphic design and creative direction of one of the most iconic and respected brands in the space industry. Based at Rocket Lab’s Auckland Production Complex in New Zealand, the Senior Graphic Designer role will support the Marketing and Communications team in developing industry-leading design assets. From designing limited edition merchandise that sells out in minutes, to creating customer-facing collateral that inspires, this role is responsible for visually articulating Rocket Lab’s story to the world.
We’re already leading an industry, but we’re not even close to done yet. Soon we’re embarking on a mission to the Moon for NASA, we’re mounting the first private mission to Venus in search of life, and we’re growing an entirely new space systems division to produce our own spacecraft in-house to support innovation and new capabilities on orbit. You’ll play a pivotal part in bringing these history-making missions and programs to life with creative assets and concepts. Now’s your chance to make your mark on missions that will be remembered for generations.
Space has never looked so good, but can you make it look even better?

  • Identify and manage suppliers and contractors to deliver brand assets incl. signage, merchandise fulfilment and printing - on time and on budget
  • Develop strong relationships across the company to enable collaboration and the best possible creative outputs
You will have:
  • 5+ years of design experience in graphic design
  • Tertiary qualification in graphic design, media/digital art, advertising, marketing or a similar field
  • An impressive portfolio showcasing a broad variety of design work
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and in Microsoft Office Suite
  • A sharp eye for quality
  • Resourcefulness and ability develop creative concepts both independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to multi-task across multiple projects
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills
  • Ability to take things in stride and maintain composure in an ever changing, fast paced environment
  • Ability to stay organized, meet deadlines, and prioritize projects based on business requirements
  • A strategic mind that ensures design outputs support overarching business objectives
  • Ability to transition with ease from presenting ideas and concepts in the boardroom, to diving deep into the detail while executing the work
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (to rocket factories and launch pads!)
Bonus points if you:
  • Have experience in both video and/or still camera operation, direction, production coordination and post-production editing
  • Have website design experience
