Your mission
The RF Licencing Engineer will work independently under the guidance of the RF Engineering Manager, to ensure Rocket Lab’s RF systems and operations comply with radio frequency regulations. The RF Licencing Engineer will arrange/maintain frequency licences for Rocket Lab’s RF systems, including the launch vehicle, ground stations and satellites, and will lead coordination activities as needed. The RF Licencing Engineer will also provide engineering support for projects and will support with the design, integration and testing of RF systems.
Note: The frequency licencing and coordination part of the role is not expected to exceed 75%.
  
Essential skills:
  • Bachelors or higher in Engineering or Physics, majoring in Communications systems/Digital communications or equivalent
  • A sound theoretical understanding of RF communications
  • A high degree of foresight and initiative
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Proven communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships
Desirable skills:
  • 3+ years’ experience working with RF systems
  • Experience working in a regulatory environment on the licencing and coordination of RF systems
  • Experience performing RF analysis, including link budget analysis
  • Practical experience working with RF communications systems
  • Experience with test equipment including network, spectrum and signal analysers
