About The Role

Working as part of the Propulsion team you will be dedicated full time to the mechanical assembly and testing of the Rutherford Rocket Engine. The rocket engine is a Lox/Kerosene regenerative cooled pump fed engine that is the workhorse for Rocket Lab’s orbital launcher program and is named after the famous New Zealand scientist Ernest Rutherford. 

As a Propulsion Technician you will be responsible for certifying the engine’s assembly prior to, and during each hot fire test and its installation into the Electron launch vehicle.  You will work closely with other engineering professionals to capture and improve the manufacturing and operations of the engine to ensure the performance of the electron launch vehicle is achieved. 

Minimum Requirements
  • To be a qualified aircraft maintenance engineer or hold an equivalent qualification
  • 5+ years industry experience
  • A high level of attention to detail coupled with a methodical and careful approach to work
  • A methodical, careful and tidy work ethic
  • Proven communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with manufacturing and engineering professionals
  • Experience with creating assembly and maintenance procedures
  • Proven experience working to deadlines
  • Capable of undertaking tasks with manual machinery
