About The Role

Rocket Lab has grown drastically since it was established in 2006, and with commercial launches just around the corner, we don’t expect this rapid growth to slow down any time soon! With a mix of research and development focused engineers and corporate staff, it is the production and manufacturing team who will see extreme expansion as we commence mass production of rockets.

This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for an experienced HR manager to drive positive change in a Kiwi start-up that has gained significant recognition across the globe.

Right from day one you will notice our ‘all-hands-on-deck’ culture. This can be seen in our CEO working on a launch component alongside a fitter and turner, a promising graduate leading their first project, and whole teams reshuffling their workload to ensure critical path is met. As a key enabler of this culture, you will be involved in all aspects of HR practices at the high level as well as the details, and will drive positive change that will see employee engagement skyrocket.

Well known for your ability to quickly develop authentic relationships, you’ll be a coach and a role model to new and experienced managers. Your advanced ER knowledge will be key to ensuring our HR practices are fair and consistent across the board. On the L&D side, you’ll be overflowing with ideas of how to unlock the potential of our team of highly skilled and passionate engineers throughout New Zealand and the US.

You will partner with the CEO and senior management team to advise on the best courses of action, and ensure the company strategy is accessible at every level of the organisation. Experience managing and developing your own team is essential as you lead a proactive team consisting of a People & Culture Advisor, and two part-time Recruitment and H&S Advisors. Your strong financial acumen and hands on experience with start-ups will see you making sound business decisions in a constantly evolving environment.

To land this role you will need:

  • 6+ years HR generalist experience
  • Significant ER experience
  • Experience with start-ups or rapid growth companies
  • Project management
  • Experience in leading and coaching teams to drive high engagement, personal development and high performance
  • Preferably experience with production and manufacturing industries
  • Ideally prior experience in US employment law

If this sounds like the career opportunity and culture fit you are looking for, then we want to hear from you!
