About the role
The Primary Role for the Maintenance Fitter is to support production of our state of the art, World Class Launch Vehicle and Spacecraft Products.

Regular activities of this position include, maintenance of production plant and equipment, attending to breakdowns, implementation and assembly of new production equipment, improvements to existing production equipment and facilitating any Ad-Hoc production request for increased productivity.

Rocket Lab production areas are fast-paced and challenging environments. A successful applicant will show an ability to prioritise and adapt to production requirements, while utilising fundamental fault-finding techniques.

This position will work closely and develop strong relationships with all production teams, including Avionics and Manufacturing Engineers, Production Managers and Technicians.
 
Essential skills
  • Time served as Maintenance Fitter within a well-established production maintenance environment
  • Apprenticeship, Trade Certificate, technical Diploma or Bachelors in a relevant specialisation
  • Ability to interpret technical documents such as schematics, mechanical drawings and equipment specification documentation
  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic experience
  • Be proficient with manual machine skills such as Lathe work, milling and general hand tools
  
Desirable skills
  • Can prepare reports on repairs or commissioning activities performed and distribute to stakeholders as needed
  • Experience with TIG welding stainless steel
  • HVAC and refrigeration experience
  • Registered Electrician or Electrical Engineering, Level 4
