About the role
As a member of the Vehicle Integration team, you will install avionic and mechanical components, wiring harnesses and high voltage batteries onto the Electron launch vehicle.
The Vehicle Integration team is group of highly qualified technicians with backgrounds in both avionics and mechanical experience, with the team working together it is vital you have a versatile skill-set to ensure team goals and deadlines are meet.
You will also work closely with Rocket Lab’s production departments who supply the hardware assemblies as well as having regular contact with design and test engineers to achieve the highest product quality and safety standards required for Rocket Lab launch vehicles.
Preferred skills and expertise
- Must be able to demonstrate 8+ years of relevant industry experience in aviation manufacture or maintenance
- A high work rate and be able to work overtime and long hours if needed
- A very high level of attention to detail and the ability to produce work to an exceptional standard of accuracy
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as autonomously
- Ability to read, understand and follow manufacturing instructions and drawings
Launch Complex 2:
NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility on Wallops Island in Virginia, USA, is the site of Rocket Lab’s dedicated Launch Complex 2. Boasting a storied history in the space industry, Wallops Island has supported the launch of more than 15,000 rockets since June 1947, as well as testing for the United States’ human space program, Mercury space capsule, and science experiments of the Earth’s atmosphere and sea topography. Rocket Lab’s Launch Complex 2 adds to that history, with the site bringing the company’s global launch availability across its launch complexes to more than 130 missions per year, as well as adding a Launch Vehicle Integration and Assembly Facility on-site.
Close to major hubs such as Washington D.C, Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Baltimore Maryland, and Richmond Virginia, but free of the traffic and congestion, Wallops Island is a beautiful place throughout the four seasons, with many opportunities for hiking, rafting, canoeing, hunting, and fishing.
