About the role
As a Test and Launch Operations Engineer you will prepare for and conduct testing and operations of Electron, Photon, and Neutron vehicles including development testing, stack testing, pre-launch processing, and launch operations. You will develop and leverage your skills and technical expertise in key systems on launch vehicles, spacecraft, and test facilities including structures, mechanisms, propulsion, pressurization, hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC, instrumentation, and related command & control systems. You will be a key part of Rocket Lab’s Integrated Operations team which is primarily responsible for integrated testing and launch operations.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Define test and operational requirements
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct testing and operations to meet program schedules
  • Develop, review, maintain, and improve test and operations procedures
  • Lead and conduct test and operations on-console (while maintaining situational awareness and real-time communications throughout test and operations activities)
  • Ensure that testing and operations preserve the quality and integrity of critical flight hardware
  • Perform real-time troubleshooting to resolve test and operations issues
  • Perform post-test and post-flight data review and analyses
  • Ensure health and safety policies and standard operating procedures are followed
  • Domestic and international travel will be required

Skills & Expertise – Essential
  • Bachelors in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience in Engineering, Testing and/or Operations
  • Experience working with vehicle assemblies including integration, testing, and/or operations
  • Experience with Java, Python, or other object-oriented programming language beneficial
  • Experience with LabVIEW and PLC development for data acquisition & real-time control beneficial
