About the role
As a Ground Segment Engineer, you will work closely with RF design engineers and contractors to establish, upgrade and maintain Rocket Lab’s ground station network. You will be challenged daily and to succeed you will need to adapt quickly and thrive under pressure to achieve tight project deadlines.Our next launch date is fast approaching and we are looking for someone who can hit the ground running, so previous RF test experience is essential.
There are three main areas of responsibility which are:
Maintenance of ground stations
- Develop and maintain ground station maintenance schedules, procedures and spares parts lists
- Conduct and coordinate routine ground station maintenance activities
- Perform remote ground station checkout procedures to verify nominal ground station operation
- Develop/extend ground station checkout procedures as needed
- Train Operations team personnel to conduct ground station checkout procedures
- Understand ground station requirement and design documentation
- Conduct market surveys and procure and install ground station equipment
- Coordinate and supervise on-site contractor activities
- Conduct/support on-site installation activities
- Conduct/support system testing activities
- Bachelors degree or diploma in Engineering, majoring in RF communications (or an equivalent qualification)
- 3+ years' experience integrating and testing RF communications systems
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting RF systems
- Experience using RF test and measurement equipment including network analysers and spectrum analysers
- The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Effective communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships
