About the role
It is rare for such an exciting opportunity like this to become available at Rocket Lab. We are seeking a Global Procurement Manager whose key focus is to build a strong supplier base who can meet our schedule and deliver efficiently - on time and within budget.  As we continue to evolve our R&D approach we are also moving to a more operational focused company, we need a leader who is innovative, energetic and is ready to develop, design and implement strategies for our Global Supply Chain.  You will work closely with suppliers and internal parties to ensure agreed standards can be met, are scaleable, sustainable and can be reliably produced. 

Key responsibilities
  • Supplier Segmentation into strategic, tactical and transactional suppliers is completed and maintained
  • Strategic supplier relationship framework is developed and implemented
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external key stakeholders
  • RFQ process run for key components to ensure competitive bidding
  • Strategies implemented to achieve cost savings target
  • Capacity forecasts are well understood, and supplier capacity is closely monitored
  • Risk Management – Develop and implement an obsolescence strategy
  • Use data to make landscape transparent and ensure issues related to supplier capacity and cost are primary focus
  • Develop dashboards for senior management to review key KPI’s
  • Lead project to develop supplier manual governing key interactions with Rocket Lab
Skills and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering
  • 10+ years in a lead procurement role
  • Category management
  • Developed and maintained strong supplier relationships
  • Strategic Supplier Relationship Management
  • Well versed in RFQ/RFP process and ability to adopt processes catering to size of the category and business
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems and reporting
  • Excellent MS office
  • A can-do attitude, open to learning, great organisational skills
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, some travel may be required
  • Experience leading a business from start-up to mature organisation
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Has led projects to identify risks in the supply chain and aligned these to overall strategic goals of the business
