About the role
The purpose of this role is to oversee the smooth and efficient introduction of Engineering Change into Production. This involves managing both the Engineering Change process and its continuous improvement, as well as the successful delivery of individual Engineering Changes for the Electron vehicle and other products as determined.
  
As part of owning the Engineering Changes, the team also maintains an accurate and complete Bill of Materials for each vehicle build, and release these eBOM/mBOMs to the manufacturing teams in a timely manner to support the production schedule and ensure successful mission manifest.
The team will in turn work closely with many stakeholders in the company, including Supply Chain and Production, to keep Master Data up to date.
  
This purpose of this role therefore ensures that these teams work closely and effectively together with improved communication within the company
  
As team lead of the Configuration Group it will be important that you are supportive of the team members and helping to develop their project management skills and level of influence at Rocket Lab.
  
Essential skills
  • Engineering degree or equivalent
  • 5 years minimum work experience with Engineering Design
  • Project management experience and knowledge of best practices
  • Working knowledge of Engineering design, CAD, Engineering drawings, manufacturing processes
  • Strong understanding of Engineering Change Process and associated Configuration Management
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Proven communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships
  
Preferable Skills
  • Experience with PLM and/or ERP
  • Experience working in manufacturing environments
  • Proven team leadership skills
  • Confident in presenting to wider groups and Executive leadership
