About The Role

Opportunity to join Rocket Lab in a newly created position as, Avionics Manufacturing Engineer to working in the Auckland based Avionics team currently tasked with the production of the Electron Launch Vehicle.

This role will be varied and challenging and will offer the opportunity to really make a difference, working closely with our technicians and engineers to continue to improve our manufacturing processes.

Key responsibilities
  • Convert existing procedures into an online format
  • Extract and quantify generic avionics standards and procedures
  • Write avionics technical documentation and implement into an online format
  • Assist in implementing tool control, ordering, maintenance and calibration processes
  • Develop an alternate parts process for mechanical, electronic and harness components
  • Build and maintain a project cost/benefit matrix to be used on planning our key value add projects
  • Create a system for innovation ideas to be suggested, recorded and evaluated against the project cost/benefit matrix

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or other relevant qualifications
  • 4+ years experience working in a manufacturing/production environment 
  • Experience in the implementation of electronic engineering processes
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • The ability to manage parallel engineering projects and delivering results on time
  • Experience with PCB manufacturing
  • Technical documentation writing

Desired skills
  • Mechanical engineering experience
