About The Role

The role of Avionics Manager is a newly created position and the successful applicant will play a critical role in the continued expansion of Rocket Lab as the business moves in to the next exciting phase.

 

As Avionics Manager you will be managing our Avionics team, a very talented team of engineers who are responsible for the designing, building and testing the electronic modules that control the Electron launch vehicle.

 

This is a vital position that will require an individual who can bring experience in managing a team with a proven track record in motivating, coaching and mentoring. This will be coupled with an exceptional understanding of electronics, the ability to advise on the design of avionics components and electrical systems together with a problem solving approach to troubleshoot issues and formulate solutions.

 

Minimum requirements

  • 5+ years’ Electronic Engineering experience ideally gained in a combination of R&D and production environments
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field
  • 5 + years management experience, with the ability to demonstrate the ability to train, coach and motivate a team
  • Proven project management and the ability to deliver on time and to budget
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • The ability to confidently make decisions
  • Exceptional attention to detail whilst retaining a view of the bigger picture

 

Desirable Skills

  • Design for manufacture experience with a strong understanding of the production of precision devices within aerospace or medical applications
  • Postgraduate engineering or management qualification
  • Experience in the space industry
